Hi
Today I accompanied a choir singing christmas carols on acoustic guitar.
You might remember that I am singing in a "everybody can sing" choir at work.
During the autum we have rehersed some songs for a christmas performance.
Then we where invited to perform on a department event today with 300 persons (!! oo )
But then our choir leader ( normally supporting us on piano) could not be with us this time !!
Soo, two weeks ago it was decided that I and another guy (in the choir) should accompany the choir on acoustic guitar .
For me it resulted in two weeks of intensive training in playing acoustic guitar on:
Santa Clause is comming to town, Coldplay Fix you, Jul Jul Strålande Jul and Nu tändas tusen Juleljus (two swedish christmas carols).
In the beginning it was lots of pain in the left hand finger tips, as I had not played acoustic guitar in a long time.
But now the thick skin is back..
Yesterday we had a final rehersal in the choir and everything fell into place.
And today we perfomed and it went fantastic, my playing was good enough and everybody was singing at their best with a big smile on their faces.
/Kalle

Congratulations on passing that terrifying test so well Kalle!

Congrats, too - is there a recording?
I too have always a hard time when I need to play chords on my acoustic during this time of the year - barre chords are something you have to train...

Re: Playing guitar together with a choir
Hi everybody
No, we did not record this session.
But I have some recordings of the choir from last year and some recordings of me singing the "bass" part of some songs.
To simplify the playing I used a Capo in the two song that was performed in Bb ( Fix You and "Jul , Jul").
But still I needed to use some Barre Chords, as Bb is not guitar friendly.
