Playing in a three piece band

Post by Blindboy »

Man, the political situation in my country is giving me the Blues, big time. :tears:
Here's a rare thee piece version of the Trainwreck Blues Band. Our keyboard player was out of town for a couple of weeks.
This is a cover of the Elmore James tune, filtered through SRV. I'm using the Strat, through a Danelectro distortion pedal, into the custom Fender BJ. If you look closely, you can see me switching from pick to fingers and back several times (I tuck it beneath my ring and pinkie fingers).
Hope y'all like it. :D

Playing three piece presents it's own set of challenges. We don't do it often, but I like it.
Oh yeah, I apologise for the big old clam at about 3:06. :shy:

Lovely blues - the set of challenges raised by the three piece format have been well and truly met, and soundly beaten!

A huge load is put on the guitarist in this scenario, but it works when the playing is at this high level -great piece of blues channelling.

Great tone! Enjoyed the listen - I wish all days could start this well.

Thank you, gentlemen. :D Glad you enjoyed it.
I do like playing three piece for a bit of a change. We don't get to practice it much, but it is fun when we do.

Wow. Really nice Bb. I think you were nailing it in terms of tone, cadence, and general vibe.
Cheers!
