In the absence of recent blues playing (swollen / sore little finger on the left hand makes this difficult) and as I haven't posted anything in the Blues Room for a month, here's a couple of acoustic numbers if anyone wants a listen - both with the Lowden S32 guitar.
An attempt at a self penned "tune" in DADGAD.
"Cold Spring Rain" http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13089943
I seem to be attempting to play slower and slower.
An attempt at an improvisation in Open Csus2 tuning (CGCGCD)
"Early Days on the Open C" http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13092463
I love the extra resonances from the lowered C G and C on the bottom strings.
From a personal point of view I prefer the improv, but the self penned tune seems to have attracted more positive responses.

I like both songs. The sound of the guitar is fantastic......
You made yourself and the world a great service when you bought the guitar..............

I agree both are great songs. The guitars seems to be great for those tunings, I always have the Highlands in mind when I listen. Wonderful.

Thank you for your generous responses guys!
The Lowden guitar does make things easier for me - I can understand why it's most popular amongst fingerstyle players, particularly those with a liking for celtic style tunes.
I will try and get a bit of something more bluesy to my next upload here (if I can).

I've played so much from the Rob MacKillop Scottish Guitar tunes book this last year that a Scottish musical tinge appears in much of my playing. Putting the guitar in open tuning really makes the instrument come alive - a testament to the skill of builders who allow enough flexibility of the guitar body for extra sympathetic resonances.12bar wrote:The guitars seems to be great for those tunings, I always have the Highlands in mind when I listen.
