Collab VB + 12bar

Post by 12bar »

VikingBlues and I managed to do a nice collab through the recent holidays. It was a lot of fun to do and forced me to sit down and finally do a recording - no excuses anymore. :phew:

It's not perfect but it was definitely worth the time - a big thanks to VB! :handshake:

Final mix in Audacity (still...)

Backin: Lawrence Fritt's ALL CAPS BLUES in G

I'd just like to chip in and say how much I enjoyed doing this collab. My thanks to Gerd for dragging me out of my semi-retirement. :D

As said already by Mr 12bar, not perfect, and I'll agree but so much better than I thought I could do. I'd also like to say about how well he and his Strat worked in and around the parts I had recorded already. I really like the "little run from 12bar" at the end!

Sweet!
This has almost a live feel as you guys swap back and forth. Real attention to the dynamics and playing of the other. Nicely done.

Guys.

I'm not going to analyze your playing, I have no knowledge to make. The only thing I can say is what I believe and that is that you tried to play as if you were sitting opposite each other and could read each other. It is extremely difficult to appear as if they were on the same stage when it is not.
You have done this so well you could have and deserve .............................

Ahh - my only electric blues contribution for the last few months was spotted!

It's Gerd (12bar) and me BTW, not VC.

It was Gerd who was the driving force behind this and got the whole thing underway with that proper blues intro. I then could put in some of my more random stuff and left blanks so that Gerd had the more difficult task of trying to fit his playing around mine. Swine that I am I also left Gerd to have to do the final phrase, which he did a great job of.

Glad you liked it so much - I certainly enjoyed taking part in it and hearing it come to life. :D

Thanks TB! In fact, it was VB who gave me the needed kick in the ... to record something. His parts were great to respond to with my guitar. The first time for years I tuned my strat back to standard tuning... :guitarist:
