First take with new toy Boss BR-1600

Post by nxsneil »

Haven't posted in a while  Been busy with work and gigs but have been keeping tabs on what's going on. Picked up a Boss BR-1600 from Ebay a few months ago, have to do some tracks with the Band soon so thought I'd better test it out. Anyone else got one of these?, any comments appreciated.

Sounding good to me.

I don't have one - a bit out of my budget - think I'd be looking at the 600 if I was buying! Having had a quick look on line it looks like the 1600 is a very powerful and comprehensive beast. It is the sort of flagship model I think? I see how it's well set up for recording in a group setting.

I've always found digital recorders a bit intimidating - all those menus, controls and multi-functions. But that's the case with anything new these days for me.

Must be :oldie:

Nicely done.......kinda got a Santana-like funk going on there.

The sound really has some Santana touch (playing is great as usual). It would be nice to hear your guitar with and without pedal - for comparison.

Thanks Viking Blues, LzyBlue & 12 Bar.... all effects were done using in built effects and mastering from the BR-1600 using my Robert Cray Strat (except drums.. used a basic drum pattern from the unit, I haven't worked out the intricacies of programming fills etc yet!) basic layout was 1 x Gtr track - clean, 1 x Gtr track - Fat Strat, 1 x Gtr track - Auto Funk Wah - then layered and panned. 1 x Gtr track - Funk Bass simulator.

That are some great sounds and chops. Love the tone !
