This is way off the deep end for me!

Post by tytlblues »

Not sure what this is, I call it Playing With Ghosts. Started noodling on that old Muddy Waters lick, then I looped it and played a another small part over it.

For some odd reason I tried a slide part, :wall: UUhhhhhhhhh well it is all an experiment. So, 3 guitar parts, all recorded clean.

good luck, it's a bit on the twangy side!!!!

That's way cool  very different... it's sometimes good to stretch. If I can get it together with my bass player, I may send you something in this kind of vein for a possible collab...

Hey thanks guys, this was really and odd deal for me. I laid down that initial lick, and than thought, what if Muddy Waters, or Robert Jonson was playing with SRV, or Joe Bonamassa, or even Ec, what would it sound like. So I tried playing some pentatonic licks, but it did not sound right. Thats when I got the slide out.......very strange, playing with ghosts is bizarre!!!!

Woah ... Delta! You've tapped into something good here.

Thought the opening was very John Lee Hooker in feel. The twangy sound and the slide - beautiful combination. For THE blues sound one note on a slide can be worth several played without.

I know there are much more accomplished slide players here, but it was fun to try. Might have to pick it up a bit more often and actually learn how to use it! You notice my pitch control with that thing was not the best.

I've been there at those crossroads... he took my slide away. (And made me promise to never ever sing)
But you sure know how to play the Delta side of Blues

My first thought, too. Sounds like sitting somewhere in Clarksdale on a hot summer evening...
