Variations on a Gershwin theme

Post by Blindboy »

Just noodlin' around with tune Becca and I do together... Playin' with the Line6 widget for tones. This probably isn't the correct way to play this progression, but it is the way I learned it from a folk/blues player. (my dad) :icon_whoknows:

Oh - now that's beautiful. Great variations on the tune and very jazzy sound. But played wit real soul.

BTW - if this is the wrong way to play it, I'd far rather hear it like this than in some sterile technically correct version.

Way cool BB. Love the noodles.
The sound of the recording was a little deep voiced.. mhh bassy for me, but the picture was all to clear.
I like your rendition a lot !

Thanks, guys...
HBL, you are right, I do tend to like a fat, bassy tone. It sometimes slips into muddy... :wall: Sometimes it is easier to set up a tone I like on an amp, rather than on the line6, through headphones (which don't sound the same as speakers).

Looking through the window and wishing some sun instead of rain all days, I did a short record of a different variation. Timing and volume issues are obvious (damn toneport), but I thought I'll upload it despite of all errors. Sheraton through damn Toneport.

 SWEET!
I always wanted to do a slide bit to this, but I never could put anything together that I liked. This one is great, I like the interplay between the slide and standard guitars a lot.

Thanks! :shy:

Yes, in fact all three, the bass is also my Sheraton. Without any backing track or metronome it's really hard for us bedroom players  to keep the rhythm.
Xmas I'll get a replacement for my toneport.

What's up with BB? Hope he's doing well!

That's a nicely done piece of music - particularly given your struggles with stubborn technology.

Hope you get a good replacement - I'd like to hear your playing much more often.
