I once played a parts caster with a Warmoth neck. It was very nice.

It can be a fun thing to do.

I still have a self build strat in my collection.

It can also be quite frustrating. The strat was my 6th (!!) attempt at a build and was the first to work out well enough to keep long term.

A difficulty these days can be in getting guitar bodies and necks that are like traditional strats, teles etc, as the big guitar companies can be quite active in pursuing copyright issues against sellers of guitar body parts.

The nerve racking part is fitting the neck to the body to get the action right!

Cheers Garry! :D

The Ash one piece guitar body had such a distinctive grain I wanted a natural finish, so the honey gloss finish to the maple fingerboard made sense for looks.

If it's of interest there's a thread about the building project here ----> viewtopic.php?f=5&t=217&hilit=self+build+strat&start=20

I did a self build strat from spare parts... Still have it and play it.
Here is an old thread, a bit tongue in cheek, about how I built it.
