Re: D Minor Blues by Althrax

So here goes, with a bit Californian white...you know,,, ok wine. Timing sucks, but my 1st post here is this. Please don't hammer me with a sledge  No sledge or hammers needed Pena. Some good note choices. Very bluesy bends and phrasing. I have the impression the recording was going...

Re: First listen... first take

Ok, This is is in a major keyl, which is totally my nemisis. Anyway... this is a first listen, first take totally cold attempt. I downloaded it, plugged in my line6. and this is the result. Collabs Reminder !!

Just a reminder, there's two stalled collabs on the gp - "Rollin' & Tumbling" (TheMammals+BluesRiff2 after Vikings part), and "Jazzy Boosa Nova" (Bossacollab3 after ElManos part).

Anyone fancy a go?? :icon_whoknows:

Two Chord Challenge

Anyone fancy a challenge.... Like making an interesting musical piece out of a G minor pentatonic teaching BT that just consists of two alternating chords. :yikes: There's some nice playing on the BT and some good resonances - I'm getting itchy fingers, and notes singing in my head as I listen to it...

Re: The OCD Blues

Oh man - you sure have the blues in what you play!! :bb: Love the tone - and I've got a sneaking regard for Telecasters - I think thy're great blues machines - very unfair they get labelled as twangy things just for country music. Sounds like you've found a good responsive OD too - that's a rarity. ...

Re: 12bar album

This is a great idea 12 bar - but judging from the number of responses already maybe you'll need 12 albums of 12 tracks!! I wouldn't tend to volunteer to put up a new piece as I know the pressure of knowing what it was for would be damaging to my playing and performance. This is why I st...

Re: Popping up

I'm sometimes glad when I hear of problems like this that I only have a few guitars, although just 3 can be more than enough for deciding what to play sometimes. I'm not a rock and roll player so I don't think I'm a good candidate for advice on teh R&R gigs. But if the "SG Built in ...

Re: Little sister's lunchbreak jam

Thanks VB for remebering me of the Altrhax Dm BT :) You're welcome - it's a really good one isn't it. I was studying @ home and wasn't hungry so I connected Little sister to my mixer and jammed away. Added a little reverb and some compression, coded to mp3 and uploaded here :) http://12bar.de/commu...

Re: Little sister arrived

Yup - that's whetted the apetite. A steel string acoustic to me only has in common with an electric guitar the steel strings. Everything else is different and, I find, more difficult. Take your time and get into the playing style it needs - we can wait and we can drool in anticipation. :d...

D Minor Blues by Althrax

This is the BT for the Bad Day blues piece I posted on the forum - I love the tones and colourings on this one.

Althrax was recommended to me on this forum by LzyBlue.

I'd be most interested to hear some othertakes on it.

Only just listened to this VB and well done, nice bit of creation  You've fitted the guitar part to the BT real well .....Like the BT too ( any chance of it ending up in the BT section ?? and who/ where are Althrax......I thought it was Anthrax when I first read it !! :D ) Plenty of Melan...

Re: Bad Day Blues Dm

Thank you gentlemen. That's a strong body of opinion from four players I have huge respect for. Interesting point 12bar about the mood - I think the extra large glass of wine was fuelled by the same mood as the music. As they say here in Scotland "I wasnae fleein'". Nowhere near the drunk ...

^I don't have guitars or an amp anymore, sold them all. But someday :oldie: I may pick it up again. ( ) Ouch - sounds like hell to me, but you play the harp so wonderfully well I can see how the guitar could become non-essential. Listening to a player as good as Hans can work two ways of cour...

Re: Mind Blowing RJ Info

I think it fair to say that opinion on the Blindmans forum tends to skew to being against the theory that the recordings were speeded up. I sort of guessed it might be given Hawkeye's guarded reply. If the claim had not been for such a major change - say a semitone rather than a tone and a half - I ...
