Re: R.I.P. Chuck Berry

A great man. One of the best dvd's I have, Chuck Live at the Toronto Peace Festival 1969. Never tire of his music.

Re: Albert King at Fillmore East

Thanks for the vids. I never realised he played his guitar upside down. I guess if you learn to play that way from the beginning there's no disadvantage. I tried it once on a lefthand guitar I later converted to righthand. Wierd, totally weird.

Re: Slide Lessons Intentions

If your slide is a little loose on your finger, you could try this great tip I came across a while back. I believe this is what Derek Trucks does to his slides. Take a piece of cork, from a wine bottle works great, and break it down into chunky little pieces. Take your slide and run some PVA glue al...

Re: The Dead Bird (a mournful blues)

Nice one Vikingblues. I don't know about Chris Rea, the first thing that came to my mind as the vocals came in was "is this Johnny Cash."?

Good stuff.

Re: 'I Feel So Good' w/my Blues Band

Sounds good to me  Only point I have is the intro lick. I think it would sound better in a lower key. Sorry, I didn't mean lower key, I mean't, play the same thing only an octave lower. I'm sure you knew what I mean't anyhow. Yep, playing it with a slide would probably sound cool just ...

Re: 'I Feel So Good' w/my Blues Band

Sounds good to me  Only point I have is the intro lick. I think it would sound better in a lower key. I mean it will certainly get the audience attention at the moment no doubt, but I just think played lower down the neck would be better. And I presume when played live the lead solo will be wa...

Re: String bending technique ?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'll practice this "bend to nowhere" technique and listen out for it in future. To my ears adding vibrato when you land on the root at the end of a phrase can sound good. Obviously I don't do it every time but when the time is right it's right ! Than...

Re: Fret size.

AFAIK bigger frets are supposed to make bending easier, because there's more room to get your fingers under the string to bend it, I have only been playing for 18 months now but I seem to have graduated to larger frets. My last purchase was a Fender Road Worn with 6105 frets (narrow and high) for e...

String bending technique ?

Hi guys (and maybe girls ? ) my first question, I'm sure there will be more later. The February issue of Guitarist mag had a Blues theme about it and there are a couple of points I would like your opinion on. They say "when you push the flat 3rd slightly sharp for the "blues curl&q...
