Re: Blues Chord Progression Question

Not an easy question, because Blues can be interpreted strictly or not. The song is not a typical 12 bar or 8 bar Blues, but contains Blues elements and Slash's Blues guitar style. A poll doesn't help to answer.

R.I.P. Chuck Berry

Mr. Rock 'n Roll died at the age of 90... :tears:

A BIG loss to the Blues, too.

Nothing...

OK, a bit more than nothing. Been down with a virus for nearly 3 weeks now, couldn't even use the time to play. Today I listened to a well-known song EC played some guitar in until I realized it was the 12 bar form. :aha: So I played the main riff, looped it and noodled along in two takes. J...

Hey that is the very first time one use the psychedelic adjective to qualify anything I could have done

First half is just beautiful atmospheric noodling, but the second I'd consider psychedelic!

Re: One of mine and a folk Trad PD

Someone on the Acoustic Forum I visit mentioned the Byzantine scale in a post I read yesterday morning and I had to try and record an improv piece using that scale straight away before I went to work. Never heard of this one (edit - googled a bit: also called double harmonic scale which maybe more ...

Re: Not blues, but nostalgic...

:yikes: Now that's a story! I love this song (who doesn't), but didn't know the story behind the guitar. Thanks! PS- found this on Wikipedia: In 1970, Williams made a television appearance on a variety show, Just Friends, which reunited regulars of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hou...

Once again I do not entirely agree with you Gerd: No problem, that's life. :handshake: Enjoying and having fun should always be the VERY most important thing for PROFESSIONAL players too! Sure it should , but it's not always the case. If you need it for your living, you sometimes have to play thing...

Re: One of mine and a folk Trad PD

Interesting discussion! I hope I get the right words... I'm not a studied musician and never had any lessons (OK, some keyboard lessons when I was young), but I've learned some background reading books etc. and it helps me to play a song. For me the interesting thing is that I prefer simple ...

Re: One of mine and a folk Trad PD

There is a problem with a lot of folk songs like "House Carpenter" that it's just verse form and no chorus or refrain. Strophic form I think it's called. But it's difficult to avoid that repetition of just the verse structure getting too boring. The version I did of the song does have sev...
